Newborn Bunny Hat Tutorial

Why is Cathy knitting baby hats? Am I missing something?

Well I would say YES! I haven’t told you guys yet, but we are expecting a little girl this September!! Oh and Easter’s coming up, and bunny hats are adorable, so why not?

If you’ve been following on social media, we were visiting my family in Korea for the holidays. We were lucky enough to find out the day before our flight back, so Chris and I got to tell my family in person. Then we flew back home and surprised his side of the family with christmas onesies!

That was pretty much all the excitement we got to experience before the morning sickness hit. I’m pretty sure some genius came up with the tradition of not announcing a pregnancy until the second trimester to save all the friends of pregnant women from constantly hearing about how crappy us moms-to-be are feeling. Unfortunately, my friends didn’t benefit from that tradition- HAHA!

Thank goodness that is over and done with, and I’m back to being functional and making things. I am going to show you how to knit this hat step-by-step on a round knitting loom. If you’re planning on purchasing a loom, I suggest you get a set to start. I made the mistake of buying just the smallest one, and once I realized how easy it was to use I ended up buying a set and I now have duplicated sizes. Most looms will include the yarn needle and loom hook.

I’ve made videos for each technique to make it easy for beginners to follow, but if you are an experienced knitter, please scroll down to the bottom for the short version of the instructions.
